Spring 2014 Community Health Worker Training

We are excited to announce the next round of training in Clinical Topics for Community Health Workers! This is a culturally specific training geared toward Community Health Workers (new and experienced) working in the African American community. We have had participants from other communities (Latino, African) and they have enjoyed the class very much as well. The 24-hour training will cover topics like high blood pressure, diabetes, health communication, nutrition, safe medication use, and charting. Participants will practice writing chart notes, reconciling medication lists, debunking myths about diabetes and hypertension, preparing for medical visits, reading nutrition and prescription bottle labels, and problem-solving common challenges in managing chronic health conditions. Comments from past participants include: “I am going to be a much better Community Health Worker for my community,” and “I have been to many trainings, but this has been by far the best training ever.”
