Pastor Mary Wins 2007 Women of Achievement Award

The Oregon Commission for Women’s 2007 Women of Achievement Awards honor three amazing Oregon women who have devoted their lives to serving their communities: Carmen Ramirez, a nurse and advocate for improving the health and living conditions of farmworkers in Woodburn; Gretchen Schuette, educator and former president of Chemeketa College, and our own Reverend Mary Overstreet Smith. Award-winning Oregonian columnist, poet, and advocate for women’s empowerment Renee Mitchell gave a riveting keynote address at the October 11 award dinner. Former award winners include Vera Katz, Barbara Roberts, Ursula LeGuin, Margaret Carter, Avel Gordly, Susan Castillo and many others. Congratulations to all the winners and keep up the great work!!
