Growing Gardens
At Growing Gardens, we are focused on improving health and strengthening communities through home-scale organic food gardening. We plant seeds for good food and healthy people by teaching low-income families, kids, and individuals how to grow food in raised vegetable beds in their yards, on balconies, and even in containers. We support our gardening households for three years with seeds, plants, classes, and mentors.
Our Just Future (formerly Human Solutions)
Our Just Future counters the forces that keep people and communities in poverty by building relationships and assets that create opportunity – today and for future generations. Here’s how:
Bradley-Angle House
We provide emergency shelter and options for healing to women and children escaping domestic violence. Our 24-hour crisis line is a resource for everyone. We hope you will find the information or support you need here.
Oregon Community Warehouse
Oregon Community Warehouse is a volunteer-based nonprofit agency in Portland that provides furniture and household items to people in need, at no cost to them. Our goal is to help low-income individuals and families improve their quality of life by providing the basic items needed to set up a home.
CAP (formerly Cascade AIDS Project)
Cascade AIDS Project helps people put their lives back together by securing housing, finding essential medical care, and dealing with the countless issues that make the difference between giving up or getting up and going on. With HIV and AIDS, the huge emotional and financial burden to all affected by it can be staggering.
Hands on Portland
We will connect you with a volunteer opportunity that makes a meaningful, rewarding change in the Portland area. Build a house. Tutor a child. Care for abandoned pets. Build hiking trails. Lead a volunteer group. Join a nonprofit Board.
